The Artisan, a $100 million addition to Cleveland's University Circle, threw open its doors for a grand opening party on Thursday, June 8, 2023. The 298-suite building is the first phase of a larger development at Chester Avenue and Stokes Boulevard. It is a joint venture by Ponsky Capital Partners and Midwest Development Partners of Cleveland and White Oak Realty Partners of Chicago. The project resulted from a request for proposals by the City of Cleveland and Cleveland Public Library to replace the 3rd District Police Station and Martin Luther King Branch library with new buildings and redevelop the key northwest corner of University Circle.
The congregation at Superior Street Baptist Church and State Chemical which bought the church and built a structure next door are both long gone. GBX Group of Cleveland wants to turn the place into a food hall and entertainment center if it gets financing for the job.
Developer Weston Inc. is razing the former GE Tungsten Products Plant to make way for a new, 434,000-square foot warehouse. The $47 million project is a speculative one, aimed at tenants who need to move quickly.
